Leven Rambin

Shout out to Actor Leven Rambin (Alumni ‘17-’18) for her detective procedural show “Gone” being picked up by WGN America! “Gone is a very exciting addition to WGN America’s superb Prime Crime lineup,” said Gavin Harvey, president of WGN America. “The show brings a stellar cast and appealing stories to powerfully complement the network’s multi-faceted mix of hit procedurals, dramas and comedies.” It will debut in early 2019, be sure to check your listings!

Farnsworth House

Alumni Writer/Director Richard Press (Alumni ‘99, ‘04-06, ‘13) has teamed up with Executive Producer Joan Scheckel for the feature film “Farnsworth House”! Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal are set to star as the visionary architect Mies Van der Rohe and his brilliant client Edith Farnsworth. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the film later this year!

Half the Picture

Shout out to our JSFL Community featured in “Half the Picture”, a woman-directed documentary about the dismal number of women Directors working in Hollywood. These successful women Directors talk about their career paths, their struggles, their inspiration, and their hopes for the future. Congrats to the Director/Producer of the film Amy Adrion, Catherine Hardwicke (Alumni '12), Jamie Babbit ('98-'99, '02), Jill Soloway (Alumni '11-'16), Karyn Kusama (Alumni ‘14), Miranda July (Alumni '07-'08, '10), Nisha Ganatra (Alumni '14), and Patricia Cardoso (Alumni '98)! This important doc opens Friday, June 22 in LA - be sure to check it out!

heroine is going to the Fringe!

Written and Performed by Alumni Mary Jane Wells (Alumni ‘10-’11, ‘13-’14), we are proud to announce that “heroine” will be World Premiering at the Fringe Festival this August! Based on the incredible true story of Danna Davis and her 10 years in the US Army, hers is a human story, exploring healing, forgiveness and what speaking your truth really means. Congrats Mary on this must-see film!

Keep Calm and Tampon

Congratulations to Producer/Director Claudia Lonow (Alumni ‘13-14, ‘16) for the success of "Keep Calm and Tampon", her hilarious high school musical about menstrual equality and the availability of tampons. It has been playing in festivals around the globe, and debuted on the Ms. Magazine blog where you can watch this laugh-out-loud short! Share the link and help spread the word!

How The Technique™ Travels

Shout out to Director Christian Loubek (Alumni ‘11-’12, ‘15) for his great work utilizing The Technique™. While in Africa casting a young 12-year-old boy for the lead in his first feature, Christian went back to his notes and shaped the initial workshops around his 3 Day Lab experiences in an effort to bridge the divide of languages and life experience. The kids just embraced The Technique™ and understood the concepts on an immersive level, with long stretches where no one spoke and only connected through action. Way to spread the concepts of The Technique™ in such a meaningful way, Christian!
